Launch of Jon Gower’s ‘Too Cold For Snow’ at Waterstones, Cardiff

Friday 15th June, 6.30pm. Free Event. Waterstones, Cardiff

Join independent publishers Parthian on June 15th at 6.30pm, in Waterstones, Cardiff for the launch of Jon Gower’s short story collection ‘Too Cold For Snow’.
If you haven’t been lucky enough to get your hands on one of the taster preview copies, come along and listen to Gerald Tyler and Tomos Williams reading extracts from the stories.

Dai Smith will also be asking fiendish questions about the collection. Expect uproarious annecdotes, journeys from the taiga region of northern Russia to the depths of despair… and if it’s all feeling a bit much, cocktails will be served.

All welcome.

Release of The Best British Short Stories 2012 anthology, published by Salt

Best British Short Stories invites you to judge a book by its cover – or more accurately, by its title. This series aims to reprint the best short stories published in the previous calendar year by British writers, whether based in the UK or elsewhere. The editor’s brief is wide ranging, covering anthologies, collections, magazines, newspapers and web sites, looking for the best of the bunch to reprint all in one volume. Neither genre nor Granta shall be overlooked in the search for the very best new short fiction.

Included in this year’s anthology are stories by Emma Unsworth, HP Tinker, Michael Marshall Smith, Dan Powell, Julian Gough, Stuart Evers, Stella Duffy, Socrates Adams-Florou, Jonathan Trigell, Will Self, Jaki McCarrick, Robert Shearman, Alison MacLeod, Jo Lloyd, Neil Campbell, Joel Lane, Ramsey Campbell, Jeanette Winterson, Jon McGregor and AK Benedict.

Edited by Nicholas Royle, published by Salt.
